Valerius

Valerius claimed to be the true heir to the throne of Aquilonia, and was extremely unsatisfied with Conan for taking the crown. Together with Tarascus, Amalric and Orastes they raised the ancient wizard Xaltotun from the dead in order to help the secure the thrones of Nemedia and Aquilonia. Tarascus was first crowned as king of Nemedia after Xaltotun created a plague that killed his father, the former king of Nemedia and all of his brothers. Then Tarascus invaded Aquilonia and through the help of Xaltotun, Conan was captured and Valerius was crowned as king.

Valerius ruled ruthlessly. He knew that he was a mere puppet of the Nemedians, Trascarus and Amalric, and that once Aquilonia was subdued Amalric would take the crown away from him. Having been made an outcast by the Aquilonians after Conan's crowning, he did not hold back, and ruled hard against the poor as well as the rich. This would ultimately be his doom, as Tiberias, once lord of Aquilonia, but ruined by Valerius, lured Valerius as well as five thousand men from the Nemedian army into a trap constructed by the men that Valerius ruined.
